The serene residential and resort community of Emerald isle is located halfway between South Carolina and Virginia. It is located on the western end of Bogue Banks, which is an Island of the Southern Outer banks of North Carolina. You may ask yourself where the name Emerald Isle came from. If could have been that all the developers were Irish, jewelers or maybe just picking at friends that were green with envy. Some even say the water was more green than blue. The true story was the developer was flown over the area and at the time with no development, he stated that it looked like a green gem in the middle of a sea of sparkling water. He then said "This shall be known as Emerald isle."
Emerald Isle is one of the few beaches that still provide a family atmosphere for permanent residents, out of town property owners and vacationers. Today, Emerald isle is constantly growing with a permanent population of 3,200 and a seasonal population of 16,000 during the tourist season. Its property appreciation values have made Emerald Isle a great investment as a resort or second home location.
